Waitlist REgistration: Frequently Asked Questions

Families who register during Waitlist Registration are “Getting in line for camp!”

Due to the popularity of camp, a waitlist began forming and became significantly longer, due to Covid. Families are typically able to attend every 2-3 years, but this will likely become every 3-4 years. Families may not attend two years in a row, due to the waitlist.

There are approximately 250 families on the waitlist. The waitlist rolls over each year. Once you’re on it, you will remain on it until you come to camp.

Registration typically opens yearly on November 1st and closes on May 1st.

BOTH NEW and RETURNING Camper families may register for the waitlist who are not currently on it. If you are unsure of your waitlist status, please inquire with the camp director.

Each family may have ONE waitlist registration. Please email director@campattitude.com to find out if you’re on the waitlist. Please do not make multiple waitlist reservations. If we discover your family has multiple reservations, we will keep the oldest, existing registration.

Periodic follow up with occur, 1-2 times yearly, to ensure you want to remain on the waitlist and to maintain an accurate waitlist.

If your contact information changes, please notify us immediately and we will update your contact details.

One of the primary goals of Camp Attitude is to serve individuals with special needs who can not attend an overnight camp anywhere else. These individuals need the assistance of their parent/legal guardian to attend camp, due to the details surrounding their diagnosis.

Campers with diagnoses who can attend camps independently, can function in their local community with minimal or no assistance or would not need a 1-1 Camp Attitude Buddy during their time at camp are typically not an ideal fit for Camp Attitude’s operating model.

Please reach out if you are unsure about your campers eligibility.

Camp Attitude has two staff members that are compensated, the Camp Director and On-Site Property Manager. All other staff and weekly volunteers serve in a VOLUNTEER capacity. None of the Camp Attitude Staff, including those who are compensated, or volunteers, have formal training and/or certification, with the exception of the Medical Team, who are certified in 1st Aid and CPR.

While volunteers might work in a specific field in their day-to-day life and career, when they are at camp, they are operating in a volunteer capacity.

Each of our volunteers, whether in a weekly or staff role, have a heart to serve the family unit living with special needs. Our goal is to be the hands and feet of Jesus to the family unit and provide a time of respite and leisure that may not be attainable elsewhere. We hope to provide the family unit with a positive experience, in a safe environment, which includes extra assistance via our Buddy Program, but with the presence of the parent/legal guardian.

If your camper with special needs, regardless of age, may need behavioral or mental health intervention from a trained and/or certified individual during their time at camp, we encourage you to reach out to the Camp Director to determine if your camper is a good fit for Camp Attitude’s operating model. The safety and well being of our campers, volunteers and staff is TOP PRIORITY at Camp Attitude.

No, families may only have one active registration. This means your family is either attending camp for the upcoming summer or your family is on the waitlist. Once you have attended camp, you will register for the waitlist when fall registration opens and get back in line.

You will receive both an email and text with details of how to accept or decline the session being offered.

Once offered a camp session, you will havebe given a deadline to accept or decline the camp session. We appreciate your family’s timely response, due to the lengthy waitlist.

Detailed information will be provided on next steps to fully register for your families camp session. Please pay attention to camp correspondence and important deadlines to complete required forms, etc.

If you are unable to attend the session offered, you will keep your “place in line” on the waiting list.

The waitlist evolves for a number of reasons, so we don’t provide your exact waitlist position. Things that impact the waitlist and when your family will attend camp include, but are not limited to, families moving and requesting they be removed, no longer interested in attending, illness, camper eligibility, etc.

Multiple attempts will be made to connect with your family, but if there is a failure to respond and communicate on your end, in a timely fashion, the session offered will be offered to the next family in line and your family will be removed from the waiting list and will be unable to rejoin the waiting list for two years. The Board of Directors adopted a No Show and Non Response Policy, due to the lengthy waitlist.

As a camp that serves the community living with special needs, we understand that life is unpredictable. If you are scheduled to come to camp and can no longer attend, we ask that you provide as much notice as possible. If you remain in communication with camp staff and cancel your reservation appropriately, you will receive priority registration for the following summer. Occasionally, you may be able to attend a different session within the same summer, but this is rare.

All families that No Show can not apply for Waitlist Registration for two years.
